Old Friends, New Places

March 5th, 2011..............

We headed down to Karlsruhe to visit our old friend Juergen with Danny and Irina.

Karlsruhe is located in Baden-Württemberg on the Rhine River at the foot of the Black Forest, just a half hour from France. The city is laid out in the shape of a fan, with the central point being the palace so that the King could look from his window and see the entire city.

Karlsruhe is the home of Bosch Global OES (my old stomping grounds) and our good friend Juergen Renner (2nd from left). I knew this guy was cool when after meeting him for the first time he showed up with 2 guitars and managed to convince me that putting on an impromptu show with him at my first Bosch work event in Germany was a GREAT idea. He is 40-something going on 20-something with a thirst for life and the guitar stylings of a young Keith Richards (you're welcome, Juergen).

He graciously took us on a private tour and gave a brief history of this often overlooked city. We checked out the old palace, the beautiful gardens, and the famous pottery studio.

After 6.7 kilometers of walking and a traditional German dinner (ahhhhhh, schnitzel) we hit the road back to Frankfurt.

One good time, followed by another......
