With Todd's new job, he spends 2 days in Cologne every week. Last week, Stew and I tagged along for our first visit to this pretty incredible city.
Our first day was spent exploring the shopping district and visiting the Dom (cathedral) which is pretty famous for being the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the second tallest spires and largest facade of any church in the world.
We capped off the day by meeting back up with Todd and walking to the 'old town' for a traditional Kolsch dinner which consisted of your typical german fare paired with Kolsch beer which they serve in tiny glasses. The server walks around with a tray full of these little beers and anytime he sees yours is empty he replaces it with a new one without a word, that is, until you place your coaster on top of your glass signifying that you have had your fill of the delicious and fresh brew.
The following day while Todd was back at work, Stew and I walked along the beautiful waterfront of the river which lead us to the Cologne Zoo. We had a great time and can't wait to go back!
