The quarterly meeting of The Rohrwiesenweg Dinner Club took place for the first time at Gasthaus Hertzler! A feast for the senses that starts mercifully in English before passing with every glass of wine into a regional German dialect of which we are learning more and more everyday.
The bar was set extremely high leading up to this evening so Chef Jackie Hertzler spent the whole week chopping, dicing, chilling, and baking to ensure this was worthy of the 5-Stars this Gasthaus is known for. As usual it included the 4 Rohrwiesenweg Townhouses; Walter & Pia, Suzanne & Udo, and Eva who graciously came solo as Martin had to travel that weekend.
Here is a snap shot of the menu: for starters we had baked Gorgonzola baguettes drizzled with Honey along with some French Champagne, followed by a Butternut Squash Soup and Roasted Caprese Salad, then on to the main course of Filet Mignon with Roasted Green Beans & Smashed Potatoes. Not to disappoint on the dessert we served Apple Dumplings drizzled with Carmel and served with Vanilla Gelato.
A few bottles of wine later, the evening was deemed a success by all.
