Tim & Barb made a return trip to Gasthaus Hertzler for a spring adventure that we will never forget!
On their last trip my Dad said he would like to see a castle next time so we happily obliged and spent an entire day viewing and visiting castles all along the beautiful Rhine River. That evening we had some Frankfurter Apple Wine and appetizers followed by a traditional German dinner cooked by Frau Hertzler herself.
Another great day was spent on "Fairy Tail Road" where we visited the village once home to The Brothers Grimm! It was a beautiful little old town where you couldn't help but imagine how such amazing stories like Little Red Riding Hood and The Princess & The Toad were written. We took in an old time marionette show of "Kleines Rotkaeppchen" and enjoyed an AMAZING lunch at this old restaurant in the woods that specializes in charcoal broasted chickens!
We spent a memorable Easter Sunday in Konigstein for church followed by some afternoon swimming in the outdoor pool overlooking the castle ruins. Stew loved swimming between Grandma and Papa! That night we cooked up some special Elk filets that Todd brought back from his last trip to Sweden. They were really tasty.
Then it was off the Venice for a few days! There was so much to see and do that I will just let the pictures below tell most of the story. We ate some amazing food, drank a lot of incredible wine, took a fascinating tour, rode on a gondola, visited a museum, and spent a sun filled day on the islands of Burano and Torcello. It was the trip of a lifetime, thanks mostly to Tim & Barb who let us tag along!
After returning to Frankfurt we took in a few more sights, had a few more delicous meals, and then bit them Adeu.
Thanks for coming back Mom & Dad and sharing your Venice trip with us! Can't wait to plan our next adventure with you. Skiing in the Alps anyone???
