We were lucky enough to see the women of our great nation square off against the Japanese in what was one of the most amazing sport events I have ever seen.
We were able to take the train right from our town to Commerzbank Arena where 54K crazy soccer fans were just getting warmed up.
The scene was absurd. Germans, Americans, Japanese all clad in their countries finest. A sold out crowd cheered each and every goal. From the 1-0 laser courtesy of Alex Morgan to the the amazing header by Abby Wambach in OT. We were sure the cup was ours. Alas, it was not meant to be. The Japanese put forth an amazing effort and in the end, had nerves of steel.
It was a once in a lifetime event and we felt very lucky to have been there to see it. USA! USA! USA!
