The Rewe (pronounced Reve) and Tegut are the local grocery stores. I'm getting pretty good at bagging my own groceries and have finally started to remember to bring my own bags to the store. It only took a month : )
The next pics are of the butcher, the bakery, dry cleaners, fruit and veggie market, and DM which is like a Walgreen's. I also included a photo of one of the many Apotekes which is where you get prescriptions filled.
Most of the stores are closed from 1-3pm Monday-Saturday for lunch, and EVERYTHING is closed on Sundays. It's an adjustment but people use the time to visit with family, relax in the park, and recharge for Monday. In case of emergency you can always run up to the gas station which are actually nicer than many stores you would find in the states. Their salami and cheese baguettes are very fresh and quite tasty (seriously).
Love the pix! Amazing to actually see all the signs in German - how DO you do it??? !! You will soon be so fluent. Shops are neat. Glad to see cars have steering and parking on the same side as the USA!
